Captain Felicia Barner joined the Henry County Sheriff’s Office on December 3, 2012, as a Detention Officer. In 2014, she was promoted to Corporal, becoming the first female Corporal in the agency’s history. As her career progressed within Jail Operations, Captain Barner earned the designation of Master Jailer and played a key role in training newly hired Detention Officers.
In May 2017, Captain Barner became a Georgia P.O.S.T.-certified peace officer after completing her mandate training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia. She was subsequently promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August 2017.
In 2021, Captain Barner transitioned to the School Resource Officer (SRO) Unit, where she served as the Central Division Sergeant, supervising a team of four SRO Deputy Investigators. After three years in the SRO Unit, she was reassigned to Field Operations as the Transport Sergeant, where she continued to demonstrate strong leadership and operational expertise.
Following her promotion to Lieutenant, Captain Barner returned to Jail Operations as the Day Watch Lieutenant. Drawing upon her extensive experience in detention, field operations, and investigations, she successfully integrated best practices from multiple disciplines to enhance jail operations and staff development.
Today, Captain Barner serves as the Captain of Jail Operations Day Watch, where she continues to provide dedicated leadership, foster professional growth among staff, and support the mission of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office through her broad operational knowledge and commitment to excellence.
