CALEA Public Announcement

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is committed to transparency, accountability, and excellence in law enforcement. As part of this commitment, we are actively pursuing accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

What is CALEA?

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) was established in 1979 as a credentialing authority for public safety agencies. CALEA’s mission is to improve the delivery of public safety services by maintaining a body of standards that strengthen agency policies, procedures, and accountability to the community.

Why Accreditation Matters

CALEA accreditation is considered the “gold standard” in public safety. It ensures that a law enforcement agency:

  • Follows nationally recognized best practices.
  • Maintains professional excellence in areas such as accountability, transparency, policy, and operations.
  • Demonstrates its commitment to serving and protecting the community with integrity.
  • Builds public confidence and trust through compliance with rigorous standards.

For the citizens of Henry County, this means your Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to upholding the highest standards in public safety.

Community of Excellence

The HCSO values your input as we continue striving to meet the highest standards of law enforcement service. Together, through community feedback and CALEA’s oversight, we are building a safer, stronger Henry County.
