Edward Tanner, CAPTAIN

Captain Edward Tanner began his career with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office in 2007 and has dedicated nearly two decades to serving the citizens of Henry County. Throughout his tenure, he has held numerous operational and leadership positions, gaining extensive experience in detention operations, supervision, administration, and organizational management.

His assignments have included Detention Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant in Jail Operations, Lieutenant in Jail Operations, Commander of Support Services, Commander of the Jail Annex, Captain in Jail Operations, and currently Commander of Internal Affairs. In his current role, Captain Tanner oversees administrative investigations, promotes accountability and transparency, and helps ensure the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct within the agency.

A native of Georgia, Captain Tanner grew up in College Park before moving to Henry County as a teenager. His lifelong connection to the community fuels his passion for public service and his dedication to the men and women of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. He remains committed to serving the citizens of Henry County with integrity, professionalism, and respect.
