Operational Highlights


The HCSO has been able to accomplish the following:

  • Awarded four grants totaling $339,131 to support Sheriff’s Office daily operations
  • Contracted an external certified auditor to evaluate financial services
  • Hired 83 new staff members and developed internal promotional board for Captains, Lieutenants, and Sergeants
  • Developed and successfully managed two Request for Proposals (RFP) for inmate medical services and food service contracts
  • Trained employees how to successfully utilize Blue Team Reporting system for collection of reports which includes employee files, vehicle accidents, K-9 deployments, workers’ compensation, and employee awards
  • Implemented a Chaplaincy Services program for inmate and employees
  • Completed 289 open record requests
  • Created a Leadership Training Program to improve the skills of our supervisory team
  • Enhanced security by placing deputies at each courthouse public access point
  • Acquired radio devices to assist the bailiffs in communicating a crisis(s) in the courtrooms, improved response time
  • Performed preventative maintenance checks and services of panic alarms and fire extinguishers to ensure serviceable when need it
  • Hired an administrative assistant to aid in the day-to-day operations of the Court staff
  • Designed and opened the Hero’s Café; staff dining area for employees
  • Implemented Jail K-9 program to help eliminate contraband throughout the facility
  • Implemented a Operation Facelift program to make improvement in the Jail facility
  • Partnered with Urban League for the UGLA Urban Youth Empowerment Program for young fathers
  • Collaborated with Southern Crescent Technical College to create an inmate GED program
  • Established an inmate worker “Road Crew” to maintain county property
  • Implemented the “Not in Henry County Initiative” to reduce criminal activity and address quality of life issues
  • Extradited 35 fugitives and handled 1,126 in state transports, traveling over 38,000 miles to 14 states
  • Verified and maintained accountability of 288 registered sex offenders in Henry County
  • Processed 24,553 civil papers from the Courts of Henry County
  • Implemented new Tyler Softcode Civil Process software that tracked and cleared 18,503 civil papers
  • Seized 633 items of property that included 123 weapons
  • Acquired a new tactical SWAT vehicle, serving dual purpose as a Mobile Command Post
  • Identified and dismantled gang organizations’ operations, resulting in 12 gang members being charged under the Criminal Street Gang Act
  • Investigated over 246 incidents during the school years which resulted in arrest for 133 adults and juveniles
  • Partnered with Pepsi Strong to develop and implement a De-escalation Training program for our officers and deputies
  • Conducted 213 training courses for over 323 employees
  • Participated in over 50 community events serving our community through building trust, relationships, and unity
  • Partnered with Pepsi Stronger Together and Greg Street to establish the Annual Ride-4-Unity event
  • Sponsored the “Shop with a Deputy” program for the 19th year, providing Christmas to 20 families and 37 children
  • Partnered with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and other organizations to collect relief items for victims of natural disasters from Texas, Kentucky, and Georgia
  • Continued the Grits and Grace campaign that bring faith-based community and public safety together to continue the effort of creating one Henry County
