Internship Program

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office offers unpaid internships to undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in law enforcement and/or corrections fields of study. Our internship programs allow students to observe the daily operation of the HCSO while also providing an opportunity to explore a career with our agency.

Prequalification Requirements to Apply

Pre-qualification requirements for student applicant are:

  • Be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age
  • Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
  • In good academic standing with their college or university
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Agree to the rules and regulation established for the program

Proof of Documentation Requirements

The applicant must show proof of the following to qualify:

  • Documents of Curriculum (student’s course of study)
  • Student status

Additional Requirements

Additional applicant requirements and instructions are:

  • Completion and submission of the Internship application 
  • Provide a copy of Driver’s License, Student ID, or Applicant photo
  • Fingerprints to be submitted to GCIC (Waiver must be signed and attached)
  • Criminal and driver’s history check (Waiver must be signed and attached)
  • A currently signed Awareness Statement
  • Completed training on the Security and Integrity of Criminal Justice Information
  • A signed Internship waiver

Once the student has successfully completed the application process, assignment will be made for the intern which will benefit their field of study. Times and dates will be flexible for the students but will follow a pre-approved schedule established prior to the internship start date.
